Malaysia

August 25, 2003

Cyberjaya, 25th Aug 2003 NTT MSC Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian arm of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), announced today that they will begin to offer NTT/VERIO Global IP Network services by end of August 2003. The Global IP Network service is what NTT MSC terms as "The Next Generation"of Internet access services in Malaysia and it is the first of its kind in the country as well. The Global IP Network is a world class internet network that connects North America, Asia, Australia and Europe, providing seamless Internet connectivity over a single autonomous system (AS*). Positioned at the top of the Internet network hierarchy, Global IP Network is capable of providing the best Internet connectivity with minimum delay and maximum quality.

In Year 2000, NTT Com acquired Verio Inc., a U.S.-based internet solution provider and the world’s largest Hosting service operator, and integrated its IP network with Verio's. Since then, this newly merged network has expanded its presence to most parts of the world, specifically to the Asian region.

Malaysia has been selected by NTT Com as the latest member of Global IP Network. With this integration, NTT Com will offer NTT/VERIO Global IP Network services through NTT MSC, out from the latter’s headquarters in Cyberjaya. Leading Malaysian Corporations and Multinational Companies (MNC’s) in Malaysia can now utilize the NTT/VERIO Global IP Network for their Internet access requirements and no longer need to purchase expensive International Private Leased Circuits (IPLC) to connect directly to US and other countries in the world. Apart from providing cost-effective connectivity, quality and reliability of the Global IP Network is also ensured with the provision of industry leading Service Level Agreements (SLA), which covers availability, latency and packet loss.

With the rapid growth of bandwidth requirements and the Internet in Malaysia, the NTT/VERIO Global IP Network is strategically placed in the heart of the MSC to offer it’s potential market high-quality Internet access. Because of this global single AS network, customers can now have seamless internet connectivity without having to incur heavy costs. The Global IP Network is in line with the Malaysian Government’s initiative of making the MSC, Asia’s Premier ICT hub. With NTT/VERIO Global IP Network present in Malaysia, regional internet traffic can now be aggregated in Malaysia thus allowing the country to enjoy higher, faster and increased levels on global internet content and connectivity. This network will be the foundation to corporate users. Evalue added applications and Internet Content Provider’s content distribution. Also it compliments the flagships of the MSC that are bandwidth and content critical such as E-Business, E-learning and Tele-Medicine and makes access to these information a lot faster and easier with its global reach. Essentially, the NTT/VERIO Global IP Network supports the development of the MSC as it now allows Malaysia to be globally connected efficiently and effectively.
